Mardi Himal Peak Climbing

Trip Code: APM

12 Days

Mardi Himal Range
Mardi Himal Peak is one of the least climbed and only the lowest trekking peaks in the Annapurna range in Nepal.  It lies less than fifteen miles in distance from Pokhara. Mardi Himal separates the southwest ridge of Mount Machhapuchhare as a separate component at right angles to the ridge and it is best seen from the south. The southwest face of the mountain has three well- described ridges rising from rock buttresses and separated by hanging glaciers. Its east face is separated from the Machhapuchhare ridge by a Col at 5,200 meters. The normal climbing route to the summit of Mardi Himal runs through this Col. The summit offers a splendid view of the Annapurna Range and the Fishtail mountain.Machhapuchhare. It was first climbed by Jimmy Roberts in 1961 along with two Sherpa  by a route on its East flank
The valley and ridges south of Mardi Himal are steep and densely wooded with bamboo and rhododendron. Alpine pastures above the forest provide a good habitat for wildlife.
Amateurish climbers can try climbing to the summit of Mardi Himal peak without having a previous climbing experience to high altitude terrain. They just need to have at least an experience of how to use the ice axe, crampons and walking with rope. The best season for Mardi Himal peak climbing is in spring from March to May and in autumn from September to December. Mardi Himal Peak is rated easy, and a non-technical ascent. Mardi Himal climbing itinerary has been designed carefully to allow the gradual ascent and proper acclimatization on the route.
