Island Peak Climbing

Trip Code: PIL

19 Days

Island Peak, khumbu Nepal

Island Peak, also known as Imja Tse, is one of the most popular trekking peaks in the Everest region. Though it is not considered a technically difficult peak but requires some basic snow climbing skills to reach the summit. The ascent does involve a 300-foot wall of steep ice and a very airy traverse along a narrow ridge. One Sherpa who has climbed Everest and K2 rated Island Peak as more technically challenging than Mount Everest. The ascent requires a high level of fitness as well as a sense of adventure. From the summit, one can enjoy the stunning views of the south face of Lhotse, Mt. Ama Dablam, Makalu, and many other Himalayan peaks.
There are many options on what to see and how to acclimate on this trip. Depending on group strength and interest, we can combine a hike to Everest Base Camp trek and Kala Pathar with Island Peak climbing. The Island peak climbing expedition is incredibly rewarding for both first-time adventurers and seasoned mountain climbers. The journey begins in Kathmandu where you enjoy the cultural sightseeing before embarking on a domestic flight to Lukla, the gateway to the Everest region.
Every step of the journey from Lukla airport to the summit is an adventure one cannot forget in life. The valley stretching from Dingboche to Chukkung and onward to Island Peak base camp is one of the great sights in the world. Lhotse's south face which rises 10,000 feet above the Everest trail is truly world class!

Trip Highlights

A challenging peak which could be organized with a Trek to Everest Base Camp and Kala Pattar. Features a steep ice wall and narrow summit ridge. Also one wil be able to explore Sherpa culture & Buddhist monasteries on the way. This is a highly recommended trip.
