Mongolia lies in central Asia between Siberia on the north and China on the south. It is the world's second-largest after Kazakhstan bordering China in the North-East Asia and Russian Federation in the north and south. .Here in the country you can experience wide-open spaces, cobalt blue skies, forests, deserts, crystal clear rivers and lakes, and the traditional hospitality of the nomads. Ulaanbaatar is the capital and the largest city of the country. It has least arable land, as much of its area is covered by arid steppes, with jagged mountains to the north and west and the massive Gobi Desert to the south.
The largest mountain range of Mongolia is the Altai Mountain, which is located in the western part of the country. The entire mountain stretches for 1500 km and its highest peak is Mount Huiten (4374m).The lowest point is Huh nuur (560m) in Dornod province. Vast steppe is dominated in eastern and southern part of country; the largest one is called Menengiin Tal (250, 00 square km).
Mongolia is the most sparsely populated country in the world with a population of around 3 million. Approximately 30% of the population in the country is nomadic or semi-nomadic. The predominant religion in Mongolia is Tibetan Buddhism. Islam is the dominant religion among ethnic Kazakhs. The majority of the population is of Mongol ethnicity, although Kazakhs, Tuvans, and other minorities also live in the country, especially in the west part of Mongolia.
